We needed to renew our sons childs passport as he is due to fly with his school in October.
We sent the docs via Royal Mail signed for, the item was received on 21/8 and we had the documents back on 30/8.
We are really pleased with how quickly the passport office acted.

Process ran smooth and much faster than promised, but it’s a real problem that there isn’t a specific process for people who live aboard and are legally required to carry their passport with them. Technically I was illegal for 3 weeks, and the British Passport office doesn’t seem to understand this. I checked in advance and was told in no uncertain terms that I had to send my current passport with the application.
