I had to send my naturalisation certificate and my foreign current passport. The passport office received my documents (signed delivery) and a week after that, they were asking me to send my passport. I had to call several times because it couldn’t be found until someone told me it was on the system. Very stressful weeks thinking that my only identification document was lost in the ‘mail room’ as I was told

Overall really good, i did use the post office service which was great, and much better than years past as you just walk in and they fill out all the details on a tablet and take a copy of your old one and then do the photo on a tablet with a white background as well.
Thank god for this website as well giving some real life expectations as it was exactly in line with the timeframes shown here and not the “well you may have to wait 10 weeks” as they said on the gov website.

I also submitted two children’s first passports but through the paper service, that was a bit more stressful as didn’t realise we needed to record the application reference to track but we still received that both passports within 3-4 weeks.

All pretty smooth. Would recommend searching out an approved Passport Photo booth (like Max Spielman) that gives you a code. This code once submitted to your application enables the passport authority to access your image electronically, significantly quickening the application.

Attaching a photo to my online application was a bit stressful as it showed that it wasn’t acceptable (for many reasons) and that my application might not be processed. So I double checked all the criteria and continued with my application online as I could see that my photo should have been acceptable.
