I lost my passport a couple years back. Cancelled it but never bothered to get a new one as I wasn’t travelling any time soon. Applied for my new passport and was told that I had to cancel my old passport first. I had about 7 conversations with HMPO telling them that I had already done this. Eventually I was given a call back, an apology, and told that my application has now been approved. As soon as it was approved the passport was received very quickly

Took photo on smart phone, gov website said it was good but got rejected due to slightest shadow on bottom of face which wasn’t visible unless looking for it
