The whole online process was easy and 6 days from applying to receiving the passport was amazing.

Comments:
Easy procedure. Passport Office tracker lets you know when they receive the old passport, and also tells you when it it approved, and when it has been printed. They claim that the courier will send a tracking number, but I didn’t get one. The new passport was put through my letterbox 2 days after it was printed. No signature was required. I haven’t yet received my old passport, which I need because it contains visas that must be presented along with the new passport. Would much rather have a EU red passport than be forced by Brexiteers to feel alien when travelling in Europe.

I had a very tight application with no spare time between the 1 week guarantee and my flight departure. In the end it would have arrived a day too late so I had to drive to collect my passport and received it at 5pm on the day before my 8am flight. Not ideal but I was very impressed by the passport office’s efforts to make it available on time.

Applied for first British Passport through British father from The Netherlands. Needed to send in official extracts/copies (originals not needed) of my own birth certificate with my parents names, parents marriage certificate and fathers birth certificate. I didn’t need a verified translation as it had multiple languages on it to begin with. Also, was told I could send in a copy of my Dutch passport instead of actual passport as I was applying from abroad with a cover letter explaining the reason.
Started application on the 23d of Feb, but documents only got sent to them on the 28th. There were quite a few days between printing and receiving the passport, which was delivered by DHL express without having to sign for it.
