The whole process from submitting online to receiving a new passport took 8 days. To speed things up, I used www.passport-photo.online/en-gb. You take the photo on your phone and send it to them where an expert checks that the photo will be accepted. It costs around £10 and you can order physical pictures too. I highly recommend that service as you don’t have to leave your home. The fast-track passport option is £155 and I only paid £82.50 and received it in about the same time. 5 out of 5!
