Posting your old passport 1st class on the same day as you submit your application and including the PEX number on the envelope (as instructed) really helps as they say that they won’t start processing your application until they have received it.

Submitted my application on Monday 8th online with a photo code from snappy snaps. Acknowledgment by email and text message that day. Sent my old passport by next day signed for by royal mail on Tuesday 9th. Got a text message from HMPO saying old passport received on Wednesday 10th. On Thursday 11th got a message application approved and on Friday 12th got both my new and my old passport back. really exceptional service.

Renewed my wife’s passport with name change to married name. Submitted in between christmas and new year. It all got cleared about a week later, 2 days after they received her old passport and our marriage certificate. Took slightly longer to get here physically as we live in a block of flats which postman cant always get in to the corridor. Arrived well in time for the holiday, happy days

I was quite worried about cancelling my passport after reporting it lost (and also as we had a trip coming up…) but I got a text only a few days later to say it was ready to be printed. Then a day after that that it’ll be on its way within the next post. Took 6 days including the Sunday and waiting for the cancellation to go through. I did all this online using a photo from a passport machine – easy peasy.
