Application online was easy to follow through on my own. Didn’t take much time. I initially sent my documents via DPD not realising that Royal Mail is the only method you can use to send your documents to the passport office. I had the proof of delivery from Royal Mail two weeks before the passport office confirmed receipt of the documents which was stressful! But then my passport was approved about 6 weeks later, printed that evening and then delivered the next working day. So not a bad experience overall.

Applied online with a photo I took myself on an iPhone, the photo was pre-approved by the Gov website, sent the old passport by registered next day delivery and was lucky the whole process was dealt with amazingly quickly, just under 3 weeks from start to finish. The passport was processed at the Peterborough Office.

The online application process was very easy and quick. The big delays were Corby receiving the old passport and me receiving the new one.
I sent my old passport on 17th and got a notification from the post office here in Spain that it had arrived 4 days later. I didn’t get confirmation of this until 2nd May – hence the 4stars. I also knocked it down because of the haphazard notifications – sometimes text, sometimes email.
Using this website I realised that I wouldn’t have to wait long following the approval for the process to finish but I was surprised at just how long it took from being sent to actually physically receiving it. That might well be a Spanish issue or new guidelines following brexit.
