I submitted my documents to get a post-dated passport ahead of our wedding in April. I gave myself 8 weeks to do so (we are going on honeymoon straight after the wedding) and by 4 weeks I was yet to get any update. I kept receiving emails telling me to submit my documents when they had arrived at Liverpool on 8th Feb. I contacted my local MP (as I was getting very worried) who got in touch with the office. Within 24 hours, my passport had been approved, printed and sent!

Easy enough process but annoying that you have to send your Irish passport (if you have one) to get a British one renewed, so you are left with neither for a period of time.
It also seems odd that the new passport is sent out before the Irish passport is returned.

Excellent online service. Was kept updated on passport progress at every stage. Chose the standard renewal application and amazed at how quickly the passport was processed and received. Time taken was well less than the 10 weeks HM Passport Office quote on their website. Total time taken from submitting the online application to receiving the new passport was 13 days. Amazing quick turn around time!!!!
Only complaint I have is Brexit and the British Passport is no longer an EU passport so no longer entitles you to freedom of movement in the EU.

Told me they never received the birth certificate so I assumed it was lost. Paid for another one and then the birth certificate arrived back from the passport office with a slip of paper saying here are your documents back. The passport office refused to acknowledge they had seen it, I asked to speak to manage and immediately was sorted.

– Documents arrived on 2nd March, but the status was updated to ‘Documents received’ on 7th.
– After nearly 2 weeks I received a request to ask another person to confirm identity (the reason is not clear to me as the first person met the listed criteria). I recommend you have more than one person lined up in case it happens.
– After another person confirmed the identity, the application got approved within minutes.
– The status changed to ‘passport has been printed’ several hours after I could already track the shipment on the TNT website. (delivery.tnt.com/tracking)
– All you need to track your TNT shipment is your postcode and application number.
