Really easy, and I only applied a month before it was due to expire because of having the confidence gained on the timelines from this site.

Sent my old passport in 1st class at noon on Monday 22 Jan 24
Received notification that the passport had been received, at 1615 on Wednesday
By 0854 on Thursday I was told my application had been approved. The same day at 1530 I was notified by Royal Mail that it would be delivered the next day during a morning times slot – though I was unable to use the tracking tool at that time.
On Friday I received further notifications from Royal Mail saying that it would be delivered that day and it was. It didn’t require a signature so even though I was out there was no problem with that and it was just put through my letterbox.
Super impressed.

I sent my son’s old passport off on the Monday with recorded next day delivery , so they get it on Tuesday. I have just received it today the following Tuesday. So 9 days all in. Happy with that

I applied for this passport exactly 3 weeks before our holiday and was then terrified that it wouldn’t arrive in time but it was incredibly quick. Frustrating that the original photo was rejected even though it said on the website when I uploaded it that it was ‘good’ but very speedy turnaround after submitting the new one.
