Connected many times via phone and told different things each time. Called last week and was assured it would be approved by today but after another phone call today told it could still be weeks….

I applied for an adult renewal (having been told by some cretin at HMPO that it would take 4 weeks) and I live in Austria.

Application submitted 6:46am on 9 July 2020The documents were actually received 4 days after the application was received, but they didn’t even open the envelope until 3rd August.
Still waiting. It’s utterly pathetic. I have written and told them that it is illegal here to have no ID, but they couldn’t bring themselves to give a damn, so that was that. I can’t even sort out WiFi problems without a passport here.
My passport is an adult renewal. I live in Germany and also told them it is causing problems not having any ID but was told it couldn’t even be pushed ahead since its an overseas passport…
Also having issues at work as I am due to travel for work reasons but have no clue when I can get my passport! I have tried tweeting them based on the advice of some people on here so hopefully that will help. I was told on the phone that it takes 8 weeks from the start of processing but I am now coming up for 9 weeks and the most recent conversation was that it could still be weeks more.
It is completely ridiculous. They are prioritising people who forgot to renew a passport and want to go lie on a beach somewhere and the fact that we are walking around busily being illegal doesn’t bother them!
I got onto Webchat yesterday – it is finally working again. I was given the usual patronising “we apologise for any inconvenience” but I was told that overseas applications were taking about 8 weeks after the start of processing, so I think I will expect 10 weeks, because they never tell the truth about anything.

Application submitted 9:22am on 1 July 2020Spoke to someone on Friday the 25th who said it hadn’t even been looked at yet and she was also quite shocked. Said she would look into it and then it was approved the next Monday.
Received a text message that it will arrive to me in Germany on 2nd October.
Yay! Got approved today. Actually, it was very weird. I called up 15.30. Spoke to a very nice man, who was very patient, because I wanted to talk and talk about how fed up I was. He told me that someone was actually looking at the passport as opposed to it being lying on a desk somewhere and that it would take another week approximately. Then at 16:40, hey presto, I was approved.

Application submitted 6:46am on 9 July 2020Good news for those who have had a result after phoning up. Would you mind letting me know which number you called? Last time I tried I got someone very unhelpful and not very understanding.
Someone who also applied from NZ about 2 weeks before I did received their passport back 5 days ago, so I’m hoping to get some news about approval this week. However it seems like it’s luck of the draw whether your application is top or bottom of someone’s pile, so if there’s something I can do to help it along then it will help me secure my visa extension!
PMCT – Phoning up didn’t necessarily help in my case. I was fobbed off and lied to for weeks. It just so happens that the last time I called, someone was actually working on my passport and had been since the Friday (I called on Monday).
I was told on Tuesday that it had been sent. Then I was told on Friday (I called for a tracking number) that it hadn’t been sent till Thursday – still lying then – and it turned up yesterday.
Why not try WebChat, because you can have the conversation sent to you, so you have proof if they say it will be done by a certain time.
I submitted my online application on the 10th Jan 2021, sent my old passport on the same day to the Liverpool office, but as off yet (18th Jan 2021), still not received acknowledgment that my old passport has been received. How long before i can consider it lost in the post.
On the same day i sent my mums, but that went to Peterborough office, hers has been processed and received new passport. Starting to panic a little
