    Hi Cat22

I submitted 2 renewal passports for my teenage daughters on March 14th. They both have foreign passports so the assessment would have to be manual.
Documents were received on 17th March.
The application stuck at processing from 28th April so there was a delay between docs received and the processing stage.
The passports were then approved on 18th May, printed on 18th May and we have received them the following day.

I hope you get the passport soon!

    Hi

Really glad to hear you have your passport- it is helpful to know that the passport office is functioning for some people as this may help the backlog. But for many of us who applied in March, if our applications are not straight forward then we are just stuck. We just don’t move forward from the processing stage and it seems the only way to get through to approval is to wait until two weeks before you travel, email the upgrade team, hope to receive a call that they are dealing with it, visit the passport office within two days of travel and hope they give you a passport. Quite a high stakes strategy for anyone who will lose money on a holiday. And also not helpful for anyone who needs ID for anything other than travel.

    Dear Fallen

I really appreciate your advice. Although it may have sucked out the last hope I had! I have found a document issued by the Home Office with guidance to the passport office called “Names Aligning on Foreign Documents”, as it is legally required to have two names under Spanish law it should be possible for this to be taken in consideration according to that document. I am just typing a new letter to them as the phone is useless- just cuts off with lines too busy! I admire your grit in holding on when you did get through.
