I think from the looks of it the 2 week upgrade is the only way anyone is getting their passports!

We were stuck on identity details received for just over 2 weeks but on Wednesday I rang up and gave both of our lost/stolen reference numbers and then on the Friday both of our applications moved to application processing

I don’t have much hope for things happening naturally however I did see that after someone had applied for their 2 week upgrade, they went to their local passport office (Durham) 5 days before they were due to fly and they actually managed to get their passport sorted the same day to be collected the next working day

I hope you managed to get sorted!!

    another update:

Not sure if it’s related to ringing and given the L reference however both applications moved to application processing Friday 20th May after just over 2 weeks of being in identity details received

That doesn’t give me much hope as I’m still on ‘identity details received’

I guess it’s going to come down to going to the passport office and begging a few day before we’re due to fly

Update (for if anyone is ever in this situation !):

After over an hour on hold I got through to someone on the phone and they said that both passports were waiting to be examined manually.

One of the passports had a query on it saying there were no lost passport details on it but the other didn’t have a query on it at all.

I asked them to add the lost/stolen reference to the passports (as it doesn’t look like it’s pulled through) and she said she added them on – so I guess it’s now just a waiting game

Hi Rosina – thank you for your reply!

Unfortunately we’re also stuck on ‘identity details received’ and have been since the 5th May.

We cancelled the passports and reported them as stolen online, and then we submitted the new applications online as well.

I’m just getting nervous as from what I’ve gathered people have moved on to ‘application processing’ within 5 days or so.

It’s outrageous that the application can get stuck but they just don’t tell you! I’ll try and get in touch tomorrow to double check everything is going ok,

    Thank you for your time!

Unfortunately a couple of days before this fiasco our turbo went on the car so we’ve been without car for the past 2 weeks

I think at any other time I would have gone and asked but honestly by the time this passport issue happened I was worried and not thinking straight!

Thank you so much for this reply – I really appreciate the detail and time spent for you to write this!

We don’t fly until the 25th June but our passports were stolen at a rather inconvenient time so after 2 days of no sleep and a failed attempt at booking a fast track appointment (where they took the £300 but didn’t give me an appointment!) I gave up and applied on the 5th and are just hoping for the best!

Hopefully it doesn’t come does to the upgrade service but at least I know there’s options if it doesn’t arrive!

Hi! I’m still in ‘identity details received’ so unfortunately I don’t know – but I was wondering what it says on your online tracker?

I’m panicking that it’s taking so long for them to check the identity details!

    Reading this gives me hope!

Can I ask if you rang the upgrade service first before emailing? Or did you email them straight off the bat?

Also were you told to specifically contact Durham or did you contact there because they’re the closest to you?

    It’s all so confusing!!
