I was notified by text message that DHL had been instructed by passport office. I was also notified of it being out for delivery it arrived an hour and half before expected time slot.
Overall the whole process was very smooth and quick. I renewed two child passports at the same time and they both processed in 15 days total (including weekends and bank holidays).
