I used the Post Office digital check and send service on a Friday. The passport office received the old passport the next Friday, and I got my new passport the following Friday. So two weeks from start to finish. I expected it to take much longer.

Comments:
Sent mine off with Singapore local post office recorded on 6 September. Arrived in the uk a week later. Passport office received it 19th, approved it 22nd and printed / posted it 23rd. It was delivered back 29th via DHL.
All very easy, efficient and tracked at every stage.
