Got my new passport photo taken at a local post office — I tried to use the little booth, but the guy behind the desk said that the booth was no longer functional and that I had to stand behind the counter against this white board he pulled down in front of the vape stand. He then took out a DSLR camera and took my photo. It was all pretty unprofessional seeming, but he gave me a little code which I used when applying for my new passport online. It saved me from having to manually scan my new passport photos and upload them to my PC, so when I input the little code into the passport office’s website my photo automatically came up.
Overall, I was impressed with the automatic nature of the whole process — tracking numbers, emails when the passport office received my old passport, emails when they had printed my new passport, and emails when they sent the pass port out. But I was most impressed the whole thing took less than a week. It would probably have been even quicker had I not applied on December 30 — a Saturday, and two days before New Year’s day. So they probably only started dealing with my passport on the Tuesday (2nd January), meaning this was effectively a 3-day turnaround. I thought it would be a month.

Unbelievably fast. First Child Passport, Father (Naturalised) British Citizen, Mother EU Settled Status.
The application was made through the mother automatically as per online instructions. We only sent the birth certificate of the child and mother’s settled status email she received. You can also just send a piece of paper with the settled status number.
