Doesn’t seem to be any logic does there. Suddenly realised my wife’s passport was expiring end of June and we have a family holiday booked first week of September all going well.

Saw on here regarding the delays and also given she hadn’t changed her name on her passport since we got married thought that might add some complication into it, but for some reason it has sailed through!

We also applied on a Saturday (20th) and missed the cut off for next day delivery on the documents, so they sat in the post office until Monday 22nd and were signed for on Tuesday 23rd. So that added a delay of a couple of days to it as well.

    Bizarre!

Child renewal (u12), online application approved within 32 days. Here’s my timeline:
    Submitted 31/5
    Received 31/5
    Documents received 08/6
    Processing started 09/6
Advised via Twitter that it had gone into examination 01/7
    Approved 02/7

Like many, I have been anxious due to the long time delays experienced by others, and perplexed when passports have bypassed mine, moving swiftly to approval.

From my experience, and what I have read here, the HMPOs definitely seem to be speeding up, and are hopefully well on their way to clearing the backlog created Pre and post Covid. Stay positive all. This forum will hopefully keep your hopes up!!

Apparently, the application will take longer to process as interviews are currently suspended. I wonder how much longer it’s going to take until everything is completed.

We’ve not booked anything yet but we’ve found somewhere for 23rd August, not sure whether to take the risk and book it hoping it’s plenty of time for the passport to arrive.

I was able to start tracking the package on the night of 1st of July with passport application number without spaces and three letters in front at this address: https://delivery.tnt.com/tracking

It gave me the delivery date: 03/07/2020 with the following scans gradually added:

    01/07/2020 – Hub Unitised
    03/07/2020 – Driver Collection
    03/07/2020 – Driver Delivery

Once delivered, there is a picture of my door there too. It was put trough the door mail opening. Came in a passport sized white Home Office Envelope, which does not seem to have any of the tracking numbers from TNT of HO on it. Some other barcode and number.

Still waiting for the supporting documents to be returned. Passport is the new kind (very dark almost black blue).

I’ve been reading this forum for a while now and thought I’d share my experience with an overseas application as most of these posts are UK based. I live in Australia and needed a standard Adult Renewal for an Australian Visa application. I found the call centre really unhelpful and I’m still baffled as to how they are prioritising applications. Much to my relief, after 2 months of stressful waiting, my application was finally Approved yesterday (I did message them on Twitter which may or may not have helped them finally process it). Now I just have to hope it reaches Aus safely and doesn’t take forever in the post! Fingers crossed for the Burgundy colour too.

At least it looks like they are working weekends to try and clear the backlog.
