    Thank you so much for the very detailed information. Just to clarify, you had not phoned or emailed any department in advance to book an appointment or upgrade, you just went straight to Peterborough to sort it out?

    Thank you for the detailed report on Peterborough but I have a couple of queries please.

    In queue 4, why did you have to pay £102 to get a passport you had already paid for in your original application?

    In queue 5, did applicants have to be travelling within a certain number of days once they had waited over 10 weeks?

    You mention the staff were checking travel/holiday bookings and wanted to see evidence of a return journey. So they weren’t just checking the outbound date of travel being in the next 48 hours?

    I wonder how this affects people travelling abroad for a longer period over the summer who may not have booked their return journey yet?

    If you have answers to any of the above I would be grateful. Thank you.

    So they would not accept the letter that the MP gave you stating that you needed the passport on the day? What on earth is going on

    I was referring to the comment made by kjr194
    “Meant to be flying today but turned away as my travel was booked after my passport application”

    My question was related to the fact that they were turned away from getting a passport due to when the holiday booking was made not that they needed proof of the booking. I did not know there were strict dates when you were allowed to have booked your holiday – does anyone else understand this please? Thanks

    What passport office was this please where they turned you away due to when the holiday was booked?
    I wasn’t aware we had to take all travel documents with us when we went. What evidence did they ask for? This is a new question as far as I’m aware.

    Hi wb1979, I understand you were collecting your son’s passport so did you go alone or have to take him with you? We may well have to travel to Peterborough to do the same thing if the child’s passport we are waiting for does not arrive. Thanks
