Am in the same boat (for son’s adult renewal) which was approved today and now waiting for printing and despatch. Looking at a few timelines, printing and despatch have been relatively quickly – a few days to a week, with a few cases going into a couple of weeks.

My son is currently going through the process of Child to adult passport (which is what we are waiting for). His passport expired this month (May 2022) and when I was filling in the documentation online for this I was told that this application was classed as “Adult Renewal”. HMPO requested his child passport for his “documents”. I submitted the application on 25 May, documents were marked as received on 28 May and today I received notification that his application had been approved and the next step is printing.

From what I have been able to find out in the meantime is that if you have lost your passport/it expired a while ago then you “may” have to go through the interview process for a new adult passport. This is not always the case.

My son’s child to adult renewal has been moving along pretty quick and went from “Documents Received” to “Approved” in 5 days. You are correct regarding the different pathways between “Approved” (online) and “In process” (manual). I was dreading the latter, but feel I can breathe a little bit easier at the moment, but I will not feel completely at peace until the passport is physically in my hands.

    Hiya

If you have a general email account from the likes of Hotmail, Gmail etc you should be able to re-log back in and download all that information again – apologies if this is not the case? Alternatively, you can contact your mobile network provider and ask for them to resend texts as these are often stored on your network account.
