They have just said it is still processing, so no update really! It’s not looking good to be honest. I was hopeful, but not so much anymore

No – stupidly used the normal service. We tried to see if we could switch to fast track, but as ours is a child app, the quickest is 1 wk. Tried to get this switched over yesterday, but was told twice it couldn’t be done as the old passport would need to be returned first. That said, someone on twitter reckons they got it sorted that way without the old passport, but not sure if they have given all the details there.

How long did it take after the ‘processed’ stage?

Ours hasnt gone to processing at all, but seen some say theirs has gone straight from ‘documents received’ through to approved and sent pretty much straight off. As it stand today ours is still and’documents received’ from 1st sept

Also,
After cancelling your passport that you lost, that can’t be used again can it? I’m just checking because if I find it before our holiday and the new ones don’t arrive, I’d be tempted to try them

Ours wasn’t a lost one…it was a renewal. Surely if yours are adult you could do same day appointments for them both to be sure? Thats what we would be doing if we could, but not an option for a child renewal.

Yeah, as youve not sent docs in and yours are adult apps? Sure you could just book same days somewhere and do them…170 quid each but if we could do that
We would be…we cant as ours is a renewal and the PP office have the old doc which is needed, and you cant do a same day for a kids passport. Just depends where the appointments are for yours??

Ok, so…
Can I just apply for a new passport without cancelling it or not? I really want to get away for this holiday and it’s not looking as if the passports will come back in time.
Do I need to explain I have already applied or can I ignore that and pay for a new application

Ah…yours is lost…so you could do the 1 week sevice. Still defo get it back in time if you got an appt asap??

I’m thinking of just turning up to the Liverpool office tomorrow and chancing it.
Any thought on this? Would there be a chance they could empathise my issue
