Finally got my adult renewal passport, 78 days later & with 9 hours to spare to get my travel visa!

Submitted: 25/04/22 (via hard copy Post Office check & send)
    Received: 13/05/22 (text from HMPO)
No other texts received about docs reviewed, approval
    Printed: 7/7/22 (notified by email)
Sent (via TNT): scheduled delivery 9th, rescheduled 11th, rescheduled 12th, rescheduled 16th! (TNT did, not me)

I finally picked it up from the TNT depot in person at 3pm today. What TNT don’t tell you is that you can pick up your passport in person from the depot (if you can get to it, and you need to bring photo ID and proof of address) BUT you need to get through to the customer services team on 0345 6080630 the day before to ask to do this (just keep saying customer services person to the annoying bot) because apparently they need 24 hours notice. When I asked, the TNT depot manager said they have alot of new delivery drivers, who aren’t trying that hard to find addresses – so the delivery dates just get rescheduled again and again, if your home is not easy to find or access (like mine).

I also wrote to my MP, emailed contact/complaint forms to HMPO, and regularly called their Advice Line to ask for an upgrade. My MP said he did contact HMPO on my behalf. I never heard back from the Peterborough Upgrade Team (no acknowledgement of email or call).

The only apology I received in the whole of this horrible experience was from the very last TNT customer services agent today, who confirmed the in person pick up.

Best wishes to those waiting for passports – my thoughts are with you.

    @cerimcc
The 0300 105 0850 number is now out of service. Try the main no 0300 222 0000, and choose 8 then 3. I applied for my Adult Renewal via Check&Send hard copy on 25/04, and today got confirmation its being printed. I suggest keep hassling your MP, and calling the Advice Line. I also got an update today via this https://www.gov.uk/track-passport-application (second time of doing it). Good luck!

@dibdob59 – I’ve just had a confirmation email and text from HMPO (55 days after their receipt of my application text; 73 days since I sent it hard copy via PO Check&Send) that my passport is being printed and should be with me “within a few working days”.

I think a trip to Peterborough would now be a waste of time and I’m worried TNT might try to deliver when I’m not there. I think I just have to sit tight and hope it arrives tomorrow or Sat – some people on tis forum seem to receive them next day, others in 4+ days – just hoping its the former.

Thanks JCM0907. I’m starting to think it might be a wasted trip too. And I don’t want to be in Peterborough if TNT is at my door trying to deliver to me! I’ve seen on this forum that some people have had next day delivery after hearing it’s being printed…but others saying it has taken 4+ days. Not sure what to do.

Thanks – I called the Advice Line 3x this morning. The last person said that as my passport is being printed in a secret/centralised location, the only way to now receive it is via TNT, as it won’t be at any passport office. I’ve emailed the Peterborough Upgrade Team again asking to pick it up in person. I think I’ll go tomorrow to Peterborough, as I haven’t (yet) had any official text/email from HMPO saying my passport is being printed.

I’ve just been told by the Advice Line that my passport went to print yesterday (at Peterborough) but I had to wait for it to be delivered via TNT, rather than ask to pick up in person. I fly Monday. Is it worth me turning up tomorrow now it’s in ‘production’?

How do you ask to pick up a passport in person?

I’ve just been told by nice lady on the Advice Line 0300 222 0000 (less than 5 mins on hold) that my passport went to print yesterday. I fly Tues. She said it might take a week to receive, and I just had to wait.

Adult Renewal Application (Post office check and send) – sent 25/4
Text from HMPO saying received application – 13/5
No other communication from HMPO – I emailed the Peterborough Upgrade Team twice with flight evidence (no response), chased on phone lines, and via MP (who said they’d also contacted HMPO for me) to get the above news.

How do I find out where my passport is being processed?

Did PO Check & Send paper service for an adult renewal on 25/4, only received confirmation of receipt from HMP 13/05, no further text/emails saying processing or printed. Flying 16/7 but need to get a visa first, which takes 4 days. Thanks for all the advice on this forum. On Sat (14 days to flight) I’ll contact my MP and phone the 0850 number to see if I can upgrade. Planning to make trip to passport office as soon as it’s been 10 weeks since sending – just need to work out which one.

Totally with everyone ref stress level.
