That’s good news. I should hopefully receive mine middle of next week which will be 2 weeks before I fly. Thought it would go right down to the wire but thankfully not. I’m applying at least a year before my next one runs out – lol
Well, exactly 13 weeks to the day after submitting my application I have just got the application approved email and it’s being printed. Only when it’s in my hand will I be fully confident that I’m going on holiday!
Great news indeed, thanks for the update. Today I’ve emailed all the passport office upgrade email addresses so I’ll see if that achieves anything in the coming days.
It is utterly shambolic isn’t it? And without any real communications channels being available to at least try to sort things out you’re left helpless, frustrated, annoyed, downright angry, absolutely fuming and then even more helpless and despairing. And you have no right to any recompense for their incompetence.
So when does the 10 weeks start, application received or documents received?
I sent my old passport off at the same time as my adult renewal application and it was signed for by the passport office the next working day. They didn’t acknowledge receipt until 8 week later and that’s reflected in the date alongside documents received on the tracker.
The part that concerns me is where the tracker says:
“You are not eligible yet to ask for your application to be processed faster. This is because we received your old passport less than 10 weeks ago.
We’ll update this page when you are eligible to get your passport sooner, with details of how to ask for it”.
If that is indeed the case I won’t be able to speed anything up until 18 weeks after I submitted my application, which will be far too late for a holiday I booked at the beginning of the year.
I posted about a similar issue a couple of weeks ago. Did an adult passport renewal via the Post Office on 10th Jun and after 6 weeks I got an email saying I had to send in my old passport otherwise my application would be withdrawn. The Royal Mail tracker for my old passport showed that HMPO at Peterborough had received and signed for it 3 days after I made the application! I rang, spoke to four different people, got told they would send an ‘internal memo’, and I even wrote to them. Then on 5th Aug I got the automatic email saying my passport had been received. So it took them 8 weeks to link my old passport to my application. I’ve heard nothing since.
