My adult renewal has just arrived in the post, with two days until I’m travelling. So stressful, but utterly relieved it’s here. I phoned about three times during the process, and asked my local MP to hassle the PO on my behalf – not sure whether either of these actions had any effect, but it felt like I was doing something…

    For completeness:

    Application submitted: 12/02/2022
Old passport delivered by Royal Mail: 15/02/2022
    Documents received: 23/02/2022
    Approved: 03/03/2022
    Printed and sent: 04/03/2022
    Delivered at 10:30AM: 09/03/2022

I think weekends slowed my application down a little: submitting my initial application on a Saturday meant that Royal Mail couldn’t deliver until Tuesday, and being marked as ‘Printed and Sent’ on a Friday meant my TNT tracking wasn’t updated until the following Tuesday. Might have been quicker if not for this. All in all, I’m grateful my application went to Durham, judging by the lengthy delays seen at other offices on this forum.

Everything I’ve seen on here (+ my experience) suggests Durham are approving renewals within 7-10 days of acknowledging receipt of old documents. I’d suggest if you haven’t heard anything by ~15th March, you give them a call, but imagine you’ll be fine.

Thanks Lynn – sounds like mine isn’t out of the ordinary, in that case.

Any recent experiences with TNT delivery? My passport was marked by Durham as printed and sent on Friday 4th, but I’m still unable to track on their website, and haven’t received any word yet on when it’s likely to appear. Really need it for this coming Friday (11th).

Approved at midnight last night! So in total that was 8 days from actual delivery to “Documents received” then a further 8 days to approved. Now just have to hope delivery is swift – otherwise feeling SO relieved

Will do Rosie. I’m getting really anxious myself with travel booked for next Friday…

No idea I’m afraid. For obvious reasons I think they’re reluctant to give out email addresses for specific offices. I’d suggest you call the helpline and ask to be put through to the examiner at Durham, if that’s where you sent your passport.

From what I’ve seen of other people’s applications, Durham PO seem to skip the ‘Application in Process’ step, and move straight from ‘Documents Received’ to ‘Application Approved’ for an Adult Renewal…

Thanks Kayleigh, that’s really helpful. I’ve got travel coming up on the 11th March, and currently at documents received stage since last Wednesday. Hopeful to be approved within the next week, but if not I’ll be chasing. When you called, were you phoning the generic passport helpline?

My adult passport renewal was sent to Durham. Submitted online 12th Feb, signed for at the Durham office on 15th, and marked as Documents received today (23rd) at 15:30, making it ~8 days to receipt from delivery. Fingers crossed my new passport is approved soon – I’m due to travel mid-March…
