    I emailed DurhamUpgradeTeam@hmpo.gov.uk

    in the subject include your date of travel and the PEX number you were given

    In the email explain your situation and provide evidence of your flight. You need to have all your details like address/contact number/contact email.

    There’s no guarantee and I’ve still not heard but it’s worth a go
    Just remember that it can only be done 2 weeks before you fly

    That makes 3 of us, mines got virtually the same timeframe as yours @shan.e

    I fly on the 12th of May, applied for upgrade last week and still not heard a thing.

    I’ll keep you both posted as to whether I hear anything, also going to Liverpool passport office tomorrow morning as it’s only around the corner, will let you know how I get on straight after I speak to them

    @Arnoldol yeah I was surprised myself to be fair, it was the first woman who put me through immediately without me even asking, so assumed you could. Only took until the third person to tell me that it’s not possible

    I really hope they sort you out, it’s horrible seeing people have to sacrifice money either way. Please let me know if they ring you 2/3 days before. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you

    Just spoke to them on that number myself. Got “put through” a number of times to the upgrade team before cutting out after 2 hours on hold (twice). to then be told the third time that they can’t put you through

    Applied for upgrade last thursday, travel next thursday. Getting quite anxious about it all now

    Where they at all bothered that your application was in Newport? Or where they happy to rpoceed with the upgrade at Durham?

    Mines at Peterborough but I’ve not heard a thing and I travel on 12/05 so getting a bit worried and may follow what you done by emailing Durham

    @restlesskid how long were you waiting for the call back? I applied yesterday as I fly on 12/05 and just wondering how long it took them to give you a call back

    @restlesskid how long after applying through the email did they ring you? only applied yesterday as I fly 12th May, but just trying to get a timeframe for hearing back

    @Amber9514 I don’t think there is a direct number, or at least I haven’t seen them give it out to anyone.
    I rnag yesterday and was given an email address only and told that I should use that

    If you know where the passport application is then the email is “Location’UpgradeTeam@hmpo.gov.uk
    So for example, mine was PeterboroughUpgradeTeam@hmpo.gov.uk

    You have to include your date of travel in the subject box and attach evidence, form what I’ve gathered, they don’t reply until a few days before, very stressful, but worth a go.

    The number you’ve been using, are they helpful when you get through?

    Just wondering if it will get done in the 3 day turnaround that they’ve mentioned

    Tried ringing again last night and this morning both cut off after an hour and a half, really frustrating

    I’ve had the same issue as you – with pretty much the same timeline (i’ve been proccesed form 08/04, started my application on 03/04 and travel 26/05)

    I spoke to someone today, it cu tout after about 5 minutes but the woman was really nice and helpful – they have fast track option that you can use, but only from 2 weeks before you travel.

    I used the number 0300 123 1973, I’d advise this number as they are helpful, just be warned that you will be on hold for around 1-2 hours.

    If you stress to them that you’re concerned and, like me, you applied when the wait time was 3 weeks, they will put a note on your application so it gets processed quicker

    I can’t say whether or not this is certain to work, but it does help to relax you a little bit

    I’m going to ring back later on so will keep you updated as to how I get on

    I think the number above will also help attach the reference number (i’ve not done this yet myself as I didn’t know I had to)

    When you say sent letters, did you have to write to the passport office rather than ring?

    Thanks, Didn’t know it was 3 weeks to cancel – think i’ll just hang on and do the same as you

    Such a pain, wait time was 3 weeks when I applied os opted ot not go for fast track, 1 week later and they’ve increased it to 10 weeks
