    My saga is finally over, timelines below. Mine was an Adult Renewal from abroad, the USA in my case. I chased a bunch of times but they never thought my desperate pleas to escalate it, with my passport being only proof of legal immigration, was important enough.

    Passport delivered 18 August 2020
    Passport printed and sent 13 August 2020
    Application approved 12 August 2020
    Application being processed 27 July 2020
    Documents received (according to them) 22 July 2020
    Documents received (according to courier) 3 July 2020
    Application received 30 June 2020
    Application submitted 30 June 2020

    Good luck everyone!

    @solman07

    G Simpson also signed for my documents, but it took just over two weeks for them to acknowledge receipt. Hang in there!

    @Gemski91

    They’ve just approved my application – I chased them, but they stonewalled each time.

    That’s utterly absurd. People on here have had them within a week of applying here, with no extenuating circumstances. Crazy how they’re not working from the earliest applications as a first priority.

    Have you had an update? Mine moved to Processing on July 27th and I’m trying to work out what the average time it takes for an adult renewal.

    So, after they signed for my old passport on 3rd July, they finally acknowledged receipt on 22nd July.

    Since then, there’s been nothing. I’ve checked back through this post and usually they start processing almost as soon as they receive it. I’m not sure what I’ve done to offend them so much that I’ve had long delays at each stage so far!

    Getting any information out of them has been like getting blood from a stone. I can’t fathom what kind of organisation either leaves mail unopened for almost three weeks or opens it and doesn’t log it. I genuinely don’t understand the logic of it – there’s no way they’re so busy that they’re three weeks behind in opening mail.

    I’m getting slightly concerned. I sent my current passport from the US as part of a renewal application and it arrived and was signed for on Friday 3rd July. It’s now been 18 days and Durham have yet to acknowledge receipt of it. Is that normal? I have an unexpired US visa in it and I’m terrified they’ve lost it – which is the last thing I need out here in the US, where they want your visa details for everything.
