    Hi smanek271

I’d genuinely recommend using the web chat if you can get through to someone, it may take a few hours of trying and you need to be quick when someone is available to speak to, but I did it and it worked. I was told on the chat that it was with an examiner, but less than an hour after the chat it moved to approved and I got the passport less than a week later.

From my experience with Newport, passport was printed 2 days after approval and delivered 2 days after being printed

    Hi schpilkers,
I think it may depend on who you get through to. I was just extra polite, told them I was very anxious after reading about 10 week plus waits in processing online. They assured me that it shouldn’t be much longer, then asked me when I was travelling. I told them, they said they’d add a note to the application and I thanked them.. that was all really. Then as I say, 45 mins later all sorted.

    Hi,
    Link is
    https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/hm-passport-office/contact/hm-passport-office-webchat

It takes some patience, took me about 2 hours to finally see “advisors available”. Then you have to be very quick to click and enter your details before someone else gets in first.
    Good luck!

    Hi Schpilkers,
Mine moved from processing to approved yesterday.. I did an online chat to ask for an update, I was told it was with an examiner and it wouldn’t be too much longer.. 45mins later it was approved. I think the web chat gave it a nudge, either that or it was complete coincidence.

I’d genuinely try web chat again if you can. I told them I was getting anxious and they asked me what date I was travelling, I told them and they said they’d stick a note on the application, it must have done the trick.
Good luck I Hope you get sorted soon.

It does just seem like pot luck depending on who you get through to.
My daughters was in processing for 2 weeks, I’m feeling lucky that I’ve got it approved so soon.

    And…… it’s now approved!!

If anyone can get through on web chat it’s worth doing, got approval about 1hr after chatting with them!

    Hi all,
Ive just managed to get through to someone on web chat, as my daughters application has been in “processing” for a few weeks now.
I was assured that the application is currently with an examiner and being processed, and to check back again later. I was told it shouldn’t be too much longer.
Has anyone else been told this before on web chat? Can I be optimistic that it’s actually with an examiner now?

I think it’s a waiting game to be honest, we can’t really do anything until the 10 weeks breach and even then it’s a nightmare getting hold of anyone to push it through (looking at other peoples experience) I’m just praying my daughters moves on within the 10 weeks, I really don’t want a stressful few weeks trying to escalate it weeks before my holiday

@schpilkers please let me know if you get any movement.. I’ll do the same. Also, which office is yours at? Mines at Newport

I’m on a very similar timeline to you for my daughters passport, it’s been sat on “in process” since May 11th, I’m preparing myself for a long wait. We travel in August, i just hope it’s not too long

    Hi,
Does anybody know what the current time frame is in Newport for passports at the “processing” stage at Newport? Has anybody moved past this stage without having to chase / escalate 2 weeks before they travel?
