This is my timeline – I had a call on Saturday from the complaints department at around 4.30pm letting me know they were sending the passport by Royal Mail special delivery – it is due to arrive this morning.

We go away on Thursday! So it was a very close call and took lots of phone calls to get here – we booked our holiday before Lockdown and my daughters passport expired in March. This was enough to get our passport expedited. If I hadn’t chased we would definitely not have had the passport in time.

Passport delivered today – 21st July.
It took a long time for the documents to be scanned on to the system. I sent her old passport by recorded delivery and they were signed for on 26th June. We contacted our local MP’s secretary. She was very helpful. I believe that her intervention helped push it along, so it’s worth a shot for those of you worried. We travel on 7th August.

So after realising on Friday 17th that my son’s passport had expired, (travelling 6th August) I applied online and sent his passport to Belfast as instructed. It was received this morning, and I have had an email confirming receipt.

    I have two questions.

    1. Belfast is rarely mentioned on this forum – has anyone any experience with this office?

    2. Do I have to confirm his identity? Or is that only for new passports?

I booked the holiday in January, and have proof of that. 2 weeks before travel is Thursday 23rd, I will start ringing then.

Please reply if you have info – or encouragement!

SomeOne else in authority has to confirm his identity new or renewal regardless and that would of had to have been done before it told you to send old passport back and they won’t usually escalate it for at least 14 days after application

I wanted to share our positive story having used these forums for potential timelines over the last few weeks.
We noticed our children’s passport’s were due for renewal in July, and we’re due to go away last week in August. I did contact via Twitter to see if it would speed up, but not sure if it helped.

This forum has been a great help, when we realised that our daughters passport had expired we had a mass panic, however reassuring and positive news on here kept our hopes up so thank you everyone and good luck!

    Hi first post
thought I’d share our daughters renewal story. Originally applied in January, withdrawn in April due to not sending back old passport even though I was told on phone that no need to send back due to covid 19. Complained and was agreed to reapply with paper application FOC as their fault in May. Phoned to enquire about 2nd application a few weeks later no help, so complained to South port Again and was told 2nd application and old passport was lost. Had to fill in lost passport details, (first week of July) and told to fill out yet another paper application. Complained and got a online application done…with new photos. another week passes Peterborough online application withdrawn as paper Glasgow application found again. Chasing them again through complaints office *who have been very good). Glasgow phoned on 20th July to say it’s on it’s way by courier through letter box, I told them good as myself and other half working(NHS).
Came home today to find Royal Mail signed for leaflet as no-one home, local sorting office closed today so have to pick up tomorrow Thursday 23rd from 7 AM ….we Fly to Greece on Saturday 25th…..with no accommodation booked as no refunds if we can’t fly, not packed yet, no taxi booked from airport etc as we can’t check in without passport

So when I see people worrying that they fly in 5-6 weeks you have not even started yet….
But I’m just about to start on the wine….Cheers

I can see some people have had their passports pretty quick in here, I was full of optimism at the beginning, a bit less so now – we were hoping to travel next week but nothing booked as yet (we’re driving). Passport is still being ‘processed’.
