    The clock starts from when you paid, I assume your application is on-line and you paid at that juncture? If you ring the Teleperormance call handlers will tell you a variety of things in relation to when the clock starts- the only consistant is thier inconsistancy. A HMPO officers told me its when they take payment.

    When you apply and it gives a time frame, your case 13 weeks that is only a guideline in which they exepect to process your application – its not a contractual obligation or SLA. Yes, I would definatley try to push the application along now.

    Personally,if you call I would and ask to be put through to the HMPO proper and see if a HMPO officer will expedite your application. The fact you have been waiting 13 weeks should be cause enough to be put through to the HMPO.

    “Can I pay to do 7 day fast track if i call them and go to my local office? “

    You would have to withdraw your on-line application 1st as it not possible to have to concurrent applications in the system. That will probably take longer than waiting for your current application. Putting aside the issue of finding an appointment, which will take more time.

    You are only currently 5 days in and in all probability your docs are in a queue waiting to be scanned – I would say there is no reason to be worried at this point in time. It took HMPO 10 days from reciept of my docs to move the tracker to documents recieved on thier system, others have waited a lot longer.

    Imagine the hue and cry if HMPO announced, hang on chaps we are going to pause the issue of new passports to reflect the change in Monarchy, it ain’t gonna happen.

    @Beaver, my passport took 11 weeks from on-line application to being in hand to and from the Philippines – I only got it that quickly because it was succesfully escalated because I was wrongly instructed by them to return my old passpor to thier Liverpool office, which left me legally at large, because I need a valid passport alongside my residency card.

    I’m sure HMPO will just run down stocks of the ‘blanks’ they currently hold and only start to replace them when they need to do further print runs. HMPO are getting enough bad press withhout being accused of wasting money by binning off perfecty fine and legal passports.

    I would not expect many (if any) that are in ‘system’ now will reflect the change in the Monarchy. It took a while to transition from the red to the blue passport, I anticipate it will be the same for this as well.

    @Bluebilli,

    There does appear positive signs of improvement from HMPO but it is still hit and miss with respect to overseas applications. My overseas adults renewal (which was bang average and straight forward) took 11 weeks and 1 day from the on-line application to having passport in hand. I know someone from the same region of the World who had a child’s renewal processed in 9 and half weeks from *docs recieved*, but they waited 5 weeks for that to appear on the HMPO’s tracker as docs recieved.

    I have I read it correctly that you have had an application in since May and only sent in the documentation recently? I assume you have arranged this with HMPO as with that length of time between events I’m surprised they have not withdrawn the application.

    Not that it helps you, or me come to that, but HMPO have been wrongly advising overseas applicants to return thier old British passport and/or thier third party passport back to Blighty. I had it confirmed (and others too) 3 times including by a HMPO officer, that colour photocopies would have sufficed – despite when I completed the process it clearly stated return the old passport.

    Hopefully you will have your renewal soon, I’m sure the passing of the school holidays now, will take some of the pressure off and speed the process up.

    “I got a text this morning saying it had been shipped, but suspect that just means it’s been submitted for shipping, not that it’s actually on a plane.”

    It will take between 36 > 48 hours to appear on DHL’s system/network. It will quickly from this point in time.

    To close this out, I have just taken delivery of my old passport passport and supporting docs. Had it not been for the weekend and a national holiday in the Phils on Monday, I dare say I would have recieved them on Yesteday.

    To close this out, 4 days after my passport was printed it arrived in the Philippines. Which is nothing even by UK standards. Mine renewal was bang average renewal. Of the 11 weeks too and fro Blighty it was six days in total that my my docs were in transit.

    Keep faith everybody.

    A further quick update:

    I logged into my DHL tracking page with the PEX no. yesterday and I noted that a second item has been added to the page with a different waybill No. (I assumed this is my supporting docs and old passport) about 10 hours later I get an email from DHL to confirm that is the case. Even though there is a 24 hour difference between the two packages entering the DHL network the estimated delivery date are both the same.

    Another point to be aware of, DHL have confirmed to me once the package as left the UK DHL sorting hub one does not get another update until an arrival scan in the destination country, which I must say say is a little un-nerving. As when I sent my docs into HMPO in Liverpool with Fedex, it was tracked through thier entire network. I assume this is down to the contract HMPO has with DHL to cut costs, or is it the way DHL operate?

    I hope this is all of use to overseas applicants.

    A quick add to Alex’s excellent thread starting post. I did recieve an eMail from DHL confirming my passport had shipped (about a day and a half after it had been printed) which included the waybill No et al.

    Alex’s info up thread still holds good tho’ and one can track it using the PEX No. minus the PEX (if that is not an oxymoron) if one does not recieve an eMail from DHL.

    Once one has that one can sign up for SMS and eMail alerts.

    My passport was printed yesterday and only has to make the 7000 or so miles to me now. I’m hoping the end of this week or early next brings more good news.

    @Pumpkin,

    Out of interest how many days did it take from being approved to being printed?
