For me it took about 2-3 weeks from docs received to be approved.
Adult renewal with name change – docs received 18/05 (sent on 05/05), asked for extra document on 21/05 (sent same day) then approved on 31/05, printed 02/06 and arrived today.
Child 1 First passport – docs received 18/05, approved 04/06
child 2 first passport docs received 18/05, asked for extra documents to prove mothers name change which i couldn’t give as they already had them so rang to ask for applications to be linked 04/06, requested call back 05/06, call back and told they will try and link applications 06/06, approved 07/06.

I’m still waiting for the 2 child passports to be printed but once got to docs received, even with requesting further documentation it only took 2-3 weeks from that point. @Tragicmcbritishface i’d expect you will hear something in the next week or 2. Which office is dealing with your application?

If you don’t need your passport for travel within the next 2 weeks then I don’t think you will be able to upgrade. I believe its only available if you are traveling abroad within 2 weeks or if you have been waiting 10 weeks from when the documents were marked as received. I think you can only get an urgent upgrade for compassionate reasons. The advisors are useless but when I phoned them the 2nd time they did put me in for a call back which i got 24 hours later and they were much more helpful. Might be worth requesting a call back as they would be able to give you a better answer.

JennieSarah8 her best bet would be to go to the local passport office 48 hours before travel. As long as all the documents requested have been received and scanned in she should get her passport if she takes proof of travel with her.

Just an update on mine, it’s supposedly being delivered on the 8th. If you use this link and put your postcode in and your PEX number as the application reference it should show on there. You don’t need the PEX part, just the number with no spaces.

Mine was printed thursday and no update since. I’m starting to worry now as most people seem to receive theirs within a day or 2 of being printed. TNT tracking is showing nothing either. I’m just hoping it’s because of the bank holiday slowing stuff down

Has anyone actually received their documents back within 2 weeks? I need my proof of name change back so I can use it for my sons application. Apparently they can’t link my application to his as mine has been approved so need to send in the document. I’m just hoping it arrives soon. My passport was approved last Tuesday and printed Thursday.

Has anyones passport been approved and printed recently? Mine was approved on 31st May, printed on the 2nd June but no update since. Just wondering how long others were taking to arrive after being printed

Until it’s logged on the system they technically don’t know it’s been sent. I didn’t get an email myself but the tracker kept saying I need to send my documents. It would have arrived at the passport office but until it’s been opened and scanned in it won’t show as received against your application.

It can take around 2 weeks for them to update the system to say it’s been received. I sent mine on the 5th May, received the 6th but didn’t show as received until the 18th. I’d give it another week before contacting them as it is taking them a while to go through the mail. This was for the Durham office. Others might me quicker or slower to scan them into the system

Ennevive I had to send extra supporting docs for an adult renewal with name change. I sent it on a Saturday , according to Royal Mail got delivered the following Tuesday then was approved a week later. It took about 5 weeks to get to the printing stage but haven’t received it yet as it was only printed last Thursday. I think they are pretty quick with looking at extra documents. Mine was sent to the Durham office so times might be different at others
