Yes. I requested a call back as I needed my sons application linked to mine as they needed the same documents. I called on a Sunday and got a call back 24 hours later and application approved the day after that. This was back at the beginning of June so I guess it depends on their workload but in my experience I did get a call back.

I don’t think all changes slow things down. I applied 5th May for an adult renewal with name change by deed poll. It took just under 5 weeks to receive it. I guess it mainly depends what the workload at the office is like. Mine went through the digital route too so no idea what flags it up to go through the manual processing route.

It’s pretty normal for you to not hear anything. They will only update you if they need more information or when it’s approved. The whole tracking system is a joke though and it would help so many if they put something useful on the tracker like “waiting for examination” or “going through digital checks” just so you know where you were at and it’s at least being dealt with. When it gets to 6 weeks and you are flying within 2 weeks you can ring and ask to upgrade. There will be a fee if you’ve been waiting less than 10 weeks but you can request an upgrade and you’ll be contacted or if that doesn’t happen then you can turn up to your local office 48 hours before travel. Hope you get an update soon

From what I e read in here it’s not guaranteed. They do interviews at Peterborough but there might not be one free to do your interview. I have read on there though that someone managed to get an interview via zoom when turning up at the office so it is possible. How long has your application been in for now? If it’s over 10 weeks you might have a better chance. You’ve got nothing to lose so I’d definitely go. Hope it works out for you

Pass0703 yes. As long as you applied at least 6 weeks ago you should be fine. Obviously no guarantees but if there is nothing apart from lack of examiners holding it up it should get approved

You can only have one active application at a time. So if you submit an online application you won’t be able to also book a fast track. You could try and wait it out to try and get an appointment but obviously the longer you leave it the less time there is to process a standard application if you can’t get a fast track. You’ll need to have had your application in at least 6 weeks before you can upgrade and travelling within 2 weeks. If I were you I’d submit a standard online application now then it gives you enough time to be able to upgrade if you need to. I used post office digital check and send. It took about 5 weeks in total from applying to receiving my passports. That was for a adult renewal with name change and 2 first child passports. Maybe that is a bit quicker as your application is checked before it’s sent so less likely to have issues and go through quicker.

I’m in the uk and it took about 2 weeks. I have heard documents being sent international can take longer, typically 3-4 weeks. It depends when you sent your application though as newer applications seem to be getting things back much quicker

I believe dhl deliver internationally. Hmpo won’t send you a tracking number. Usually you will get a text/email from the courier on the day of delivery. Try using your PEX number as the reference number without the PEX part, just the numbers.

From what I’ve heard there are 2 queues. One for appointments and one for those without. Try and get there a bit earlier if you can but you should be fine if you’ve got an appointment

Mine were from hm passport as soon as I sent the application. Was yours a digital check and send? When you get a text from them it usually contains your PEX number and a link to track your application. That’s what I got with the documents received text. I also got an email at the same time. These would be sent to the contacts provided on the form

I believe the 10 weeks starts from when you get the documents received notification as that’s when they can start processing your application. If you applied using the check and send you should have an email or text with your PEX number on it.

Stephiec that is the case, yes. If it’s been less than 6 weeks you might be able to go to your local office but it’s not guaranteed. The 6 week rule I guess is to stop people trying to bypass the normal wait time without using the appropriate fast track and priority service. I guess the moral of the story is apply well in advance. Obviously if you can’t because a passport is needed for urgent travel for medical reasons etc then you have a case. Hope everyone who needs theirs gets it soon as it just seems to be pot luck at the moment which isn’t fair.

I’d try going to the office 48 hours before if you can as you have nothing to lose and there are a lot of people successful in doing this. My timeline for 2 first child passports was sent 5th May, went to documents received on the 13th. One application was approved 4th June the other 6th. Received both passports 4 days after approval. Hopefully yours won’t be much longer

You’ll need to go to your local passport office 48 hours before travel. You might have to pay a fee but as long as your application is correct and no additional documents are required they should be able to sort you out.

I’m sorry things have been tough the last few years and I hope your wife is doing well. You won’t be seen at a passport office unless you already have an application in and it’s at least at status documents received or have an appointment at the office. When do you travel? You won’t be eligible for an upgrade if your application hasn’t been in for at least 6 weeks and travelling within 2 weeks. Personally, I wouldn’t risk turning up to the airport either. Realistically you won’t be able to travel. Would it not be possible to rearrange your travel date?
