    Deanc,

I emailed the office that my application is being processed at (Belfast) on the 11th July and they replied back to me on the 17th. I also emailed the expedite team and they still haven’t got back to me. They do seem to be right up against it at the moment and are working through applications based on travel dates. They seem to be 3-4 days before travel date before they contact you.

This morning I went to my local office (Glasgow) and basically just queued up with a lot of desperate people. I travel on Saturday so they let me in to explain my circumstances. Took all my details and said they would contact Belfast office as Urgent and I should hear back from Belfast this afternoon and they should be able to tell me when I can collect my passport from Glasgow.

Probably doesnt help your stress at this time but do not give up hope, I havent heard of anyone not being able to get their passport (as long as they are prepared to doorstep their local office). Hopefully you are close to one.

    Good luck

Went to Glasgow office today as I am 13 weeks from application and due to fly on Saturday.

Got there at 6.30am and there were 7 people in front of me! Offices open at 8am and obviously take those with appointments up to the front first. Then as they get dealt with the general enquiries people are allowed in.

I got in at 8.40ish. Very helpful guy who took me through what he would do to get the passport sorted for me to collect today. My application was in Belfast so he emailed them and marked it as urgent. He said that Belfast will call me back today with a time to go back up to Glasgow to collect the passport. Fingers crossed!!!

    Thetas good news Boblee4

I only got an email response on Sunday afternoon from the Belfast upgrade team. They just said they note my travel date and will be in touch as soon as they can. They say they are prioritising by dates of travel. Given you travel on the 26th this is obviously just another lie.

Going to Glasgow office tomorrow, hopefully get something sorted out there.

Snoopy55, yes that seems to be the way people are getting success at the moment. My daughter’s application has been stuck at Belfast for 12 weeks and despite phone calls, emails, email to MP, more calls and more emails I was getting nowhere.
Drove to local office (Glasgow) which is only 6 miles away luckily on Friday to see what the queues were like. Joined the back of it as I saw a guy going down the line asking for info etc. I explained my circumstances to him and he said I should come back on Wednesday (I fly on Saturday) and it will get sorted out.
Feel heart sorry for those who need to travel a long distance to an office. They should be due some form of travel expenses given that the only reason they have had to do this is down to sheer incompetence by the Home Office.

Sazzle, I asked a similar question on one of my many recent calls as i live in Glasgow but my application is sitting in Belfast. I was told it wasn’t an issue and the passport could be printed at Glasgow and collected from there (if it ever bloody gets printed!!!)

Estival, good question! And one that does not appear to have an answer I’m afraid. Presumably you would have to take the risk and book something in the hope that the backlog is cleared by then or else knowing that you will have to do the two week chase!

Vegele, I hope I am too! The one good thing is that I am only 5 miles away from Glasgow office so not a major issue to queue up once the deadline reaches 48 hours before travel. Good luck too, let me know when you hear from them. Hope its today.

My 10 weeks finally passed yesterday and the online tracker page changed to say that as my 10 weeks had passed I can now email the expedite team with full details along with travel documents if I am travelling in the next two weeks (which I am). They say they will check the application and come back to me in 48 hours.
Also spoke to someone yesterday on a callback. She told me they are getting through applications at the moment based on travel dates and are currently operating at about 4 days away from the travel date.
    Squeaky bum time!!

My MP has been very good I have to say. They have been speaking to the home office with regards my application and I have kept them up to date with any updates from my side.

No passport yet but hopefully soon!!!

I called yesterday to ask for my child renewal application to be upgraded as we fly in 11 days and 10 weeks had passed since application. Guy was very helpful, filled in all the information for me and said he would send it and mark it as urgent. He said I will hear from the upgrade team in the next 24-48 hours (although he couldn’t guarantee it wouldn’t be longer than that).
I called the main line again this morning just to check it had all been sent over and the guy this time said their systems were different to the upgrade team and was somehow unable to check if it had actually been sent! Not very reassuring.

Just off the phone to them and got a helpful guy who has referred my case to the upgrade team and marked it as urgent as we travel on the 23rd July. He said the 10 weeks actually started from when my online application was received and not when they received the old passport in the post. Hopefully going in the right direction now.

Derek, you should seek help from your MP immediately on this matter. Also you should be able to escalate when you have only 2 weeks before you travel. Which office is your application at? This forum has email addresses for all of the UK passport offices. Don’t give up yet!!
