Stp – it’s a mystery why some applications are processed quickly and others take such a long time.

The letter requesting an interview was printed on 26 March but only received on 7 April. Not sure why this cannot be done by text or email… Their processes are a mess.
It may have taken longer to get an interview date because of the Easter Bank holidays.

    Good luck everyone.

Not everyone applying for first passports requires an interview. I know several people whose application was approved without it. The passport office took 22 days to log the supporting documents. The letter requesting to book an interview date took 13 days to be delivered… it must have sat at the passport office for a while before being posted! I have not been asked for further documentation or been informed of any issues with my application. With a bit of luck I will get the passport before it hits the 3 months mark! Some people seem to get their within a couple of weeks, it seems I was just unlucky.

My application hasn’t moved since 28 Feb. I received my supporting documents back today – has anyone had their documents returned before the application being approved? It seems strange but then the whole process is a mess.

I submitted my application on 30 January and it’s been showing as processing since 28 February. I called the Passport Office today and was told there is nothing they can do. The lady acknowledged there are delays with receiving documents, approving, and even sending out passports and supporting documents.

My application hasn’t moved since 28 Feb. I was hoping they would get to it quickly to make up taking 23 days to receive the documents but no such luck. I will need to cancel my flight next week. So far calling the Passport Office hasn’t helped.

I got a notification when the documents were linked to the application but not when it changed from documents received to application being processed.

jespop30 – I was concerned the passport office had lost the documents but they found them in the end. I asked for a call back that never materialised.

Has anyone had experience requesting for the supporting documents to be returned without withdrawing the application?

I tried the call centre several times and they can’t help at all. Here’s the timeline so far, the supporting documents were delivered on 1 February but only logged on 23 February.

Hi the passport office took 23 days to link the supporting documents to my application which I think is longer than most. People are advised to contact the passport office if it’s longer than 8 working days

It seems like I am one of the few people having delays with linking supporting documents to the passport application. Royal Mail confirmed delivery on 1 February and 21 days later I am still waiting for the Passport Office to update the system. I have also been waiting since 15 Feb for a call back. I was told by one of the call centre agents that every time someone calls for an update the clock starts again and we go to the back of the queue for a call back. Has anyone had this problem? It’s frustrating not being able to speak with someone who actually works in the Passport Office, the staff in the call centre don’t have access to any information.

I am having a similar situation with the Liverpool office. Royal Mail delivered my documents on 1 Feb but the passport office seems to have lost them! I’ve been waiting for a call back since Tuesday. How can they say ‘lost in transit’ as if it’s nothing to do with them… The whole system is a shambles

Thanks jespop30 – it does seem everyone else has had their supporting documents linked within a few days. I called the Passport Office on Tuesday and again today. I was supposed to get a call back but nothing yet.
