So ive just had a text from royal mail to say my passport is being delivered by 9am tomorrow….I must admit I did have to escalate 3 times through customer management to get to this point, it was then sent to the team that deal with applications over 10 weeks and although it hasn’t been 10 weeks, they acknowledged there had been unnecessary delays with not linking documents for both my children’s passport renewals (youngest was dealt with in 3 weeks!) and so it seems they accepted that and pushed it through, too late and at a cost to us but finally after 3 years we can go and enjoy a holiday with the rest of our family who flew yesterday! Fingers crossed for you

It’s so frustrating, we were meant to fly yesterday & they approved & printed the passport today 😭 I’d like to rebook but need to know its on its way, fingers crossed you get yours in time

So now you have to wait to be ‘qpproved’ and then wait for ‘printing’, then its sent to TNT for delivery. I’m still in processing since 16th March, applied 18th Feb, was due to fly today.
Each stage seems to have massive delays for the majority, just hope you’re one of the lucky ones. It’s a complete shambles hence why they’re all over the press

Noctule8 yes mine has been processing since 16th March officially despite them having documents from the 18th Feb 😕

Do so with caution would be my advice & obtain another copy if you can. I sent my birth cert along with my passport for both my children’s applications with a covering letter asking them to use them for both applications, they disregarded the letter, processed one application, sent the docs back & didn’t link it to the second application which has now been processing for 6 weeks. Lost our holiday & still no sign of the passport being approved. Sorry I can’t be more postive

I assume you mean its moved into a manual checking queue as opposed to everything bring processed electronically? This happened to me, I assume the photo I sent wasn’t good enough to be passed digitally but hasn’t been rejected so someone has to manually look at it. I’ve been told it’s with an examiner, waiting an examiner, I’ve been told my documents haven’t been linked, that they have been linked. I get told something different everyday, worse experience I’ve ever had. Still awaiting passport, lost our holiday next week & no sign of progress, its been ‘processing’ since 16th March.

I did contact my local MP, she was really responsive & helpful, and I echo what you’ve said-better customer service than from HMPO! Unfortunately it’s made no difference to my application despite her contacting them 😕

Vish-i had the same issue but in reverse. My passport still has my married name, as I’m divorced I reverted back to maiden name which I used on my kids applications (because thats my name!) they then asked for deed poll, decree nisi etc which is fine because my passport obviously hasnt been changed yet but I sent these in with a covering letter for both applications. They linked them to one application and approved it & not the other because they’re being processed in different offices in Liverpool and so had no record of these docs on their system!! How can such a large organisation not have one large internal scanning system that can be accessed across their sites?!
Anyway I resent the docs for the 2nd application & it’s been sat in processing since 16th March. Due to fly next week, can’t leave one child at home can we

Same, beauty of hindsight I guess but when you see average timescales of 4 weeks you think it will be ok, funny one of my daughters passports was actually processed in that time but not the other! And you can’t even switch to fast track because you have to rely on them sending the docs/old passport back to attend an appointment. So disappointed, 10 of us had booked our first family holiday in years, 4 of us will be staying behind ☹️

I would seriously consider trying to move your holiday if possible, I have a similar timeline to you and am still waiting, nobody can confirm if it will be approved in time for our date of travel-7th, nobody seems to care they just give you the runaround constantly & say ‘wait 10 weeks’ fingers crossed for you

I called on the standard ‘advice line’ number but asked to be put through to the progress team, I called on Saturday and was lucky but if they can’t get through to them they log it for a call back….which unfortunately never transpires
