Reply to #18088 @bobokitty download the DHL express app and add your address to open an account thus way you will receive exact notification from DHL of you passport journey, your PEX number probably will not work as DHL use a different tracking number

Reply to #18058 @Nimmy my own overseas experience for a passport renewal completed on line digital with a selfie photo was 5,5 weeks from application to passport received submitted 5th May received 15th June

hope this gives some people hope when applying from overseas, although I did contact the British consulate
stating my case as I needed to travel urgently.

Received my passport today DHL Overseas on line Digital Application. Durham Office

Application Submitted 9:04 am 5th May
Application received 9:04 am 5th May
Old Passport signed for Durham 10:36 am 6th May
Old Passport received 7:26 am 1st June
    Approved 5:36 pm 8th June
    Printed 4:48 am 10th June
Delivered 2:45 pm 15th June (DHL)

photo taken by myself (Selfie) with IPhone, was a little concerned this may have failed checks but passed through
i was just as concerned as most on this forum but found great support from those that contributed.

absolutely delighted it arrived today and also feel for all those going through the trauma of still waiting to receive theirs, keep phoning and asking for progress and if that that fails turn up at the PO for assistance if your living in the UK, i did not have the option to fast track or turn up in person as I’m living in Europe so had to rely on the system, but fair play to HMPO 5.5 weeks from start to finish

good luck everyone who needs theirs urgently for visiting sick relatives, Happy Holidays and Business trips

Top Tip from another @Caz 86 anyone receiving their passports via DHL do download the DHL express App and enter you address otherwise you may not get delivery dates and time. special thanks to @SingaporeDon who’s advice was just brilliant.

Reply to #17324 @Caz86 thank you for the advice and information, much appreciated, I wish you and your family
a wonderful well deserved Holiday, much needed to get free of the stress involved getting a passport, I’ll certainly change tack the next time round, providing I do need to travel urgently I’ll be allowing six months or a year to apply for the next one.

Reply to #17317 @Caz86, so sorry the passport did not arrive on time for you and your son to fly out with family
but at least you are in a position to fly out a couple of days late to join your family, hope all goes well
and you receive the passport on Wednesday.

did you use your PEX number without the PEX to track the passport?

Reply to #17244 @Zay #17254 Helly87 reading the posts on this forum it does appear that anyone who applied in March/April has been put on the long wait…. don’t know why when people who applied in May seem to be doing ok except to think that the HMPO had a staffing crisis or possible IT outage that was not reported pubicly causing a a delay in processing applications, any discrepancies on your application will cause a delay, incorrect spelling, incorrect photo etc. phone call to the the PO office and ask to be transferred to the progress team should move things forward

Reply to #17250 @Nobody cannot give an an accurate time line but from reading posts it appears from Approved to printing stage is normally between 2 and 10 days depending on the passport office, printing must be be over q 24Hr period as i received my notification that the passport was printed at 4:50 am, check the HMPO tracking app
otherwise like most of us a phone call to the PO is required to check the status, some people receive their passports before tracking has been updated.

Reply to #17242 @CAZ86 have you checked that DHL actually complete the delivery in Ireland and it’s not transferred to An Post? I remember 10 years ago when living in Ireland my passport was delivered by local post office, is it worth checking with An Post to see if they have it, just an idea …..

reply to #17215 @flakysparrow depending whether your application is online digital route or post with additional documents, but as a guide mine was a online renewal applied on 5th May, signed for 6th May, received by PO office on 1st June the longer it remains in docs received the better as this means the digital route is more likely before falling into the manual route.

#17102 #Goodlife. Yes I did contact the helpline initially as I knew applying overseas would mean I could not avail of any fast track option, I also contacted the British consulate to explain my concerns, although they informed me that if I did not receive my passport in time to travel I could apply on line for a emergency passport at cost of €100 they also stated that if on line proved to be an issue I could call directly to to consulate office where they would assist in issuing an emergency passport, this would not effect my original application as I had the Gov passport tracker with updates.

As the helpline extreme patients is required, I did get to talk to a very nice operator called Julie who did make some off line calls to assist, but I have seen reports that if they put a note on your application this can lead to your application going to manual route which is worrying, if desperate then call the help line be polite and ask for phone assistance as they can do this rather than rely on e-mail.
